Assignment: Approximately one year ago, the World Health Organization (WHO) classified processed meat as a class 1 carcinogen, putting things like hot dogs and bacon in the same category as tobacco smoke, asbestos, and arsenic. Unlike other recent carcinogen classifications (like tanning beds, another recent addition to the list), the WHO's action on processed meat has been widely debated in both the scientific and popular press. In approximately 1 typed page, summarize the WHO's reasoning for this classification and your understanding of the reason this action has been greated with such skepticism.
